Following the merger of Ealing Consortium and Harrow Consortium for Special Needs in the summer of 2007, we have now become support for living.

Our vision is that people lead a life which is truly their own. We support people with learning disabilities, and people with mental health needs, to look after their health and wellbeing, and to achieve their wishes and goals in life. We aim to employ the best staff, and to run an effective and strong organisation as the basis for achieving our vision.

We are able to build on the strengths of Ealing Consortium, a successful provider of social care, supported living, activity and outreach services in the boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hillingdon, with its long tradition of supporting service users to define and direct the service they receive. Added to this, is the broad network of services in Harrow, for which Harrow Consortium has been responsible - and where the Council has approved Harrow Consortium’s exciting and challenging development and modernisation plan.  This will bring staff and all aspects of the operations more fully together, within support for living.

As a larger organisation, we have more opportunities for developing and sharing expertise between different services. For example, we run four short break services for people with learning disabilities (three residential, and one day-time activity-based), offering respite for carers. On the mental health side, we now have a larger and more coherent portfolio of services. With our increased capacity, we hope further to develop supported employment and transport opportunities.

We believe it is in everyone’s interests that our organisation is financially strong and stable. The combined turnover of Ealing Consortium and Harrow Consortium in the last financial year was around £19million, and both organisations have built up appropriate reserves, balancing our charitable aims with the risks inherent in the business (but not for profit) aspect of what we do.

This message is going to a wide range of people we serve, relatives and advocates, our staff, people we work with, and people who fund and support us. For service users, we hope that we continue to offer you what you want. For everyone, we hope your experience of support for living is of an increasingly responsive, dynamic, professional and positive organisation. We look forward to a new period of improvement, development and growth.
